Nutrition: Stick to your plan. This is more important now than ever. With the looming fears of
Covid-19 you want to stay as healthy as possible. Continue to follow a whole foods diet the best
that you can. Drink plenty of water and limit your intake of sugar. While we all know comfort
foods are what we crave during difficult times, try to incorporate one comfort food meal a week
instead of every day. Keeping your gut healthy will increase your immunity!
Exercise: Make sure to get out and exercise! If your past routine consisted of going to a gym
look up some workouts on YouTube. There are many workouts that can be done at home with
no equipment. Get out and take a walk or go for a run. Do some yoga or pilates at home. If you
had a routine try and stick with it and sweat it out at home. This is a very stressful time and
exercise is one of the best ways to reduce stress in your life! Get out there and get your sweat
on!!
Meditation: During this time of high stress our bodies tend to quickly go into fight or flight as we
don’t know what to do and fear takes over. Doing a meditation practice daily even for 5 minutes
will allow your body to slip into a parasympathetic state otherwise known as rest and digest.
When we are in a chronic state of fear this creates an increase in cortisol, our stress hormone
which can lead to an increase in total body inflammation. Taking a few minutes each day to
recharge and slow down will only help you find some peace during this time. Check out the
Calm app or Headspace. There are also many other guided meditations available over the
internet. If meditating is not your thing make sure to find some time each day to consciously
take a few deep breaths and slow down. If you would like a more personalized approach please
reach out and we can help you. Namaste
Relationships: During this time of social distancing we want to be very careful we don’t end up in
social isolation. There are many studies on how detrimental this can be to your health. While
you can’t get close in proximity to friends make sure you reach out over the phone or set up a
video call or facetime. Many of the video conferencing services are offering free trials at this
time so you can connect in a group with people. Facetime does a group chat as well. Take a
walk with a friend or organize a few friends to stop by your front yard for a visit. You can all give
each other space but it is so important to see people and connect with them during a time of
high stress and uncertainty.
Sleep: Make sure you get your sleep! When we sleep our cells are able to take a shower and
regenerate. It is our time for our bodies to heal and rest. Getting a lot of sleep can also help aid
in your immunity. If you are struggling with sleep and need some help please reach out to one
of our health coaches for more personalized information. Sweet Dreams
